Maine Arts Commission PAL Grant
Renewal - 2005-2007

vision...The vision of the MSAD #57 PAL team is a school environment where a lifelong appreciation for the intrinsic value of all the arts is nurtured.

purpose/mission...
Our mission is to foster and promote a diverse environment in the arts in which all children in MSAD #57 will have a variety of experiences, specifically dance and theater, which are not addressed in the arts curriculum.

goals...

1st Year - Students will learn how to use their bodies to tell stories and communicate ideas and feelings.
Activity: All 3rd graders in the school district will participate in a movement/dance/mime artist-in-residency program.


2nd Year - New administration will support the vision, mission, and activities of the PAL grant and PAL team.

Activity: PAL Chair will meet with the administration to elicit support by emphasizing the past success of the artist-in-residency program and it's alignment with the Maine Learning Results.


3rd Year - Demonstrate how the PAL grant has increased the integration of the arts into the classroom.

Activity: Discussions with participating teachers to document activities where possible; eg., photos of students making rainsticks and other ethnic instruments to connect with social studies.

 

evaluation...

The PAL Committee will create a portfolio depicting the artistic highlights and learning experiences of the residency. This will include:

 

who is responsible...The PAL Chair together with the PAL Team will make sure that the goals are met and activities completed. A designated liason for each elementary school will be established prior to each residency.

pal funds...Money will be used to pay for artist residencies.
